Luxury, sheer luxury. I've been a loyal fan of Zara since 2005, and I still can't figure out how to manage to do such amazing tailoring for the prices. The tailoring on suits and trousers is the highest standard I have ever seen. The cut of the suits it's sheer perfection, perfectly tucked at the waist, the vents on the jackets are perfect.
The trousers are incredible, again down to good tailoring.
The main bad point that stands out to me is the sizing. They have a great range, but the sizing is really the poorest I have ever seen. For suits for example, I am a Medium 38 chest, and 32 regular trousers. They have had in stock several suits which I was never able to buy, as they did not have them in my size. Which is bizzare as I am the average size for a man. However, this is not loss to me, as the loss goes to Zara who missed out on several sales.
Another issue relating to the lack of sizes, is the fact that most lines of clothing only seem to last 4 - 6 weeks and are replaced with a new line. This means I've been in many situations such as above, and returned to the Zara store every saturday hoping they will have the size in stock, only to find the line is completely out and the staff advise that line will not be produced again.
If Zara are producing lines that sell out so quickly, and are in such high demand, then why scrap them after 6 weeks?
If you have a winning product, then why ditch it?
The Zara store I frequent in particular always seems to have staffing problems. Women's wear is based on ground floor, mens and kids on 1st floor. On a number of occasions whilst I've been shopping on a saturday (usually busiest day for any retailer) there has been no apparent staff serving in menswear, and the same in kids wear, so I've had to carry the clothes down to ground floor and wait 15 mins in a long queue.
Is there a particular reason for this?
Having said that, the times I have interacted with the staff, they have always been exceedingly helpful and polite.
Also I feel the quality, as others have mentioned, is questionable. 1 suit I bought from Zara lasted less than a year until the seams came apart at the crotch. I was to embarrassed to take the trousers back and ask for a refund, due to where they had come apart.
If you want to look like a millionaire, without being a millionaire, then pop along to Zara. Exceedingly delicious men's tailoring at affordable prices.
